Day 1

On arrival, you will be met and transferred to your hotel in Arusha. The hotel sits in nine acres of landscaped gardens in the foothills of Mount Meru and is ideal for a relaxed stay ahead of your safari.

Day 2

Have breakfast in Arusha before departing for Tarangire with a game drive en route to your lodge, which lies hidden amidst the ancient baobabs and grasslands of the National Park. The lodge was built to blend harmoniously with its surroundings. There are no fences around the lodge, which allows for up-close wildlife viewing.

Day 3

Embark on morning and afternoon game drives in Tarangire National Park, a highly dense bushland dominated by the valley of the Tarangire River and abundant wildlife. It’s likely that you’ll encounter elephants and brightly coloured birds who love the dry savannah.

Day 4

Drive to Lake Manyara with a picnic lunch en route. It is a game drive until evening when you check in at your lodge. Opened in 2015 and nestled on the rim of the Great African Rift Valley, this rustic-luxe lodge has stunning views over Lake Manyara. The classic designed suites all have a fireplace, bathtub, an indoor and outdoor shower and private balcony. Outside there’s a large rim-flow pool and fire pit. As a lovely little extra, afternoon tea is included.

Day 5

Depart with a picnic lunch and enter the Serengeti National Park. Get ready to spot the Big Five as well as cheetah, giraffe, hippo and warthog. After a day’s game drive, relax in the lounge loft or take a refreshing dip in the pool.

Day 6

If you rise early, you can take a morning game drive through the park to see the nocturnal predators returning from their nightly hunt and very active animals waking up in the early morning light. Depending on the time of year and the migration of the herds, you can expect to see wildebeest, lions, elephants, giraffes, zebras, monkeys, baboons, hippos, rhinos, antelopes, birds and other species. You can enjoy morning and afternoon game viewing drives on the vast Serengeti plains. In the early morning and evening light, the Serengeti landscape is stunningly beautiful. The Serengeti ecosystem supports the greatest remaining concentration of plains game in Africa, including more than three million large mammals. The park is one that can never disappoint. One is spoilt by the variety of bird and wildlife species in this game reserve. Depending on wildlife movement, you can have a hot lunch at the camp or enjoy picnic lunch packets.

Day 7

After breakfast we will head to the Lake Ndutu area, situated in the Ngorongoro conservation area, part of the southern Serengeti eco-system. Lake Ndutu is alkaline, like most of the other Rift lakes, however the water is still drinkable and used by a wide array of local wildlife. We will arrive in time for lunch at the lodge and after lunch we will do an afternoon game drive in the Ndutu area. The majority of the wildebeest migration can normally be found on the short-grass plains from December to April. The area is usually heavily populated with elephant, birds and resident game.

Day 8

After breakfast, enjoy a full day game drive in the Ndutu area. Explore the range of different habitats that include swamps, woodland, soda lakes and the world-famous Serengeti short grass plains. See great herds of wildebeest and zebra. During a short time, framed around February, normally lasting for about 3 weeks, the majority of the wildebeest calve. The sea of grass provides little cover and the young are easy pickings for a variety of predators. Wildebeest calves can run minutes after they are born and within 3 days, they are normally strong enough to keep up with the herd.

Day 9

After breakfast we drive south towards Ngorongoro. The drive is scenic and on arrival we descend 610 meters into the crater, which is home to an abundance of wildlife and a photogenic paradise. It will be a full day of game viewing, with a picnic lunch at a private scenic site (hippos pool). Ngorongoro Crater, the largest intact caldera in the world comes with an abundance of wildlife permanently resident on the crater floor. Prides of lions, herds of Cape buffalo, impala, Thompson gazelles, rhino, golden and black backed jackal, zebra, cheetah, leopard and the spotted hyena, freely roam on the crater floor plains. Unmatched for its natural variety and breath-taking beauty, there are few places on earth where such a tremendous diversity of landscapes exists inside a region this size. Apart from its wildlife riches, the crater is also home to hundreds of bird species, refreshing in the small lakes in the crater floor. Spend the night only a few minutes away from Ngorongoro.

Day 10

Today you leave the Ngorongoro area for Arusha. Here you can explore the city, go shopping for souvenirs or just relax. We can organize an optional program if you would like, like the visit of a Masai Village or the Snake Park.

Day 11

You can choose the program of today in respect to your flight time. You will be transferred to Kilimanjaro International airport for your flight home.
