Many might not know this, but Johannesburg is a very romantic city. Beautiful boutique hotels and gorgeous rooms, perfect for when you do not want to leave them. The third largest canyon in the world, with impressive and very lush scenery, Blyde River Canyon Reserve is a beautiful destination within South Africa. It is well worth spending some time here together, before venturing into the bush. You can go hiking, horse riding, fishing, do a romantic sunset cruise on the Blyde Dam, hot air ballooning, rafting, or take a relaxed drive and visit God’s Window, Three Rondavels, Bourke’s Luck Potholes or some of the many waterfalls en route.
Day 7 - 10
Experience the romance of Africa and sleep under the stars, in this luxurious treehouse. A remote, yet safe retreat in the middle of a reserve. The treehouse features two sleeping levels including a covered and weatherproof space with a king-size bed, hot running shower and flushing toilet. An elevated sleep-out platform allows you to slumber al fresco under a retractable screen. Enjoy sundowner drinks and snacks on the upper deck, a picnic and midnight treats. Completely off the grid, this treehouse promises luxury and comfort while offering the most exclusive wilderness experience.
This private game reserves shares unfenced borders with the Kruger National Park, home to the Big Five. Within the reserve, there are several large prides of lion. You will enjoy the exclusivity of game drives within this concession area, the flexibility of day and night drives and the option of interpretive bush walks.
Spend your days and nights cocooning in one of the most beautiful wilderness locations and smell the thick warm bush air all around you. A mystical mixture of indigenous flora, dust, the scent of the potato bush and elephant dung. Look at the sunsets, the endless starry night sky. Feel the warm sun during the day and a cool breeze at night. Enjoy the fantastic cuisine and listen to the lion roars at night. A true honeymoon experience that will heighten all your senses.
You can choose to either drive back to Johannesburg or take a domestic flight via Kruger Mpumalanga Airport. Or add a few days in Cape Town to enjoy beach, Table Mountain and the Winelands.
