24 Days, 23 Nights self-drive. You will explore South Africa from Johannesburg via the Panorama Route, Kruger National Park, Swaziland, St. Lucia, Addo Elephant, the Garden Route and the Klein Karoo to the ‘Mother City’ Cape Town.

 

Arrival in Johannesburg where you will meet our representative. You will be handed over all required information for your journey. You will then be transferred to your accommodation. This morning you have the choice of two optional morning activities: Option 1: Ttour of Soweto or Option 2: Tour of Alex Community Tourism Route After the optional activity, your rental car will be delivered to your hotel. You will then make your way to the friendly and beautiful village of Dullstroom. Overnight:Country House in Dullstroom, incl. breakfast.
Today you travel to Hoedspruit via the spectacular Panorama Route. Here you can stop at the aptly named God’s Window, Bourke’s Luck Potholes and the breath-taking Blyde River Canyon. The Three Rondavels await you on the other side of the pass. Overnight: Pezulu Tree House Game Lodge, Hoedspruit area, incl. full board and 2 game activities during your stay.
The day starts early with a 4×4 safari vehicle to go on a Big 3 game drive. Experienced guides share their extensive knowledge about the bush with you. In the late afternoon, you will head out again for a sunset Big 3 game drive. You return to your lodge around 7 pm where dinner is served. Today you will drive to the south of the Kruger National Park where you will spend 1 night in a rustic rest camp. The world-renowned Kruger National Park offers a wildlife experience that ranks with the best in Africa. Ideal to drive through in your own vehicle. Overnight: In a rustic camp inside the Kruger National Park, room only (Options include Lower Sabie Restcamp, Pretoriuskop Restcamp, Skukuza Restcamp, Crocodile Bridge Restcamp or Berg-en-Dal Restcamp)
Today you will cross the border into the Kingdom of Swaziland and travel along the Swaziland Route. You will spend 2 nights at Mlilwane Wildlife Sanctuary. This is Swaziland’s pioneer conservation area that has saved over 22 species from local extinction. Overnight: Mlilwane Wildlife Sanctuary, Swaziland, incl. breakfast.
Today you will cross the border back into South Africa. You will travel to St Lucia via the Elephant Coast Route. Here you will find the Big Five, whales, turtles, coral reefs and pristine, protected coastline. Here they provide excellent underwater experiences while whale-watching opportunities off the Elephant Coast are regarded as one of South Africa’s best. Today you will make your way down the Dolphin Coast to Durban. Durban is best known for its warm weather and long, sandy beaches. Durban is home to the largest Indian population living outside of India. Delve into South Africa’s rich Indian heritage and shop for authentic spices at Victoria Street Market. The cosmopolitan tourist Mecca and seaside village has plenty to offer! Overnight: Guest House in Umhlanga, incl. breakfast
This morning you will make your way to the airport to return your rental car. You will board on a domestic flight to Port Elizabeth where you will collect another rental car. Your journey continues to Addo Elephant National Park. Overnight: Rest camp in Addo Elephant National Park, room only

You will travel along the world famous Garden Route. Starting at the lush indigenous forests of Tsitsikamma and via sea-side villages all the way down to Mossel Bay. This small area packs a solid punch by offering plenty of amazing activities. Overnight: Guest House in Storms River, incl. breakfast

Your drive to the Klein Karoo town of Oudtshoorn today will demonstrate just how diverse and beautiful the South African landscape is. A drive over the magnificent Outeniqua Pass will deliver you into a vastly different land. Dramatically contrasting with the lush, green opulence of the Garden Route is the dry, arid vastness of the Klein Karoo. Today you will have an opportunity to discover the Kanna Biodiversity Route as you make your way along the Cape Route 62, via the Tradouw Pass and part of the Xairu Blue Crane Route to the historic town of Swellendam. You have the option to detour to the Southernmost Route and Agulhas National Park before making your way to Hermanus. Overnight: De Hoop Nature Reserve, near Hermanus, incl. breakfast

Today you will make your way towards the Cape Wine lands. This is the home of South Africa’s best wine and food. Stellenbosch is the centre of one of the world’s top wine industries and Franschhoek is the gastronomic capital of South Africa. Therefore, you are in a real culinary treat for the senses! Today you will travel to the Mother City, Cape Town. Once you have over-indulged your senses in the Cape Wine lands, it is only a short 60 km drive to Cape Town, your home for the next 3 nights. Overnight: Fair trade in Tourism certified guesthouse, Cape Town incl. breakfast
Today you will make a Cape Peninsula Tour. After breakfast at your hotel, you will be taken on an unforgettable full day Cape Peninsula tour. The first stop of the Peninsula Tour will be at the oldest Cape city wine estate, Groot Constantia and via a scenic route you will be taken to Cape Point and the Cape of Good Hope. Then you will be driving via the False Bay coast with quaint fisherman villages and Boulders Beach, home to the African penguin and back to your accommodation. After breakfast, you will be collected from your guest house by our representative to be taken on an eye-opening half day Township tour. Experience the spirit of Ubuntu by visiting some of our partners along the Cape Car Route and Khanyisa Cape Route. These show you a “behind the scenes” look and are considered to be more valuable than other township tours. The stops en route depend on availability.
